On a personal note, wow, my photography has changed so much in less than a year. I learned a lot at this wedding.

No pictures of anyone throwing anything into a fountain, check.

Aside from some traditional posed shots with their families, they wanted to enjoy their wedding without having to worry about the photography or posing for pictures.  My job was to basically act how I would on a film set – take as many pictures as possible while being noticed as little as possible.  Alyson is a film producer and we have worked together, so she knows how I work on a film set, which is to stand back and watch people and capture as much as I can.

The wedding was at Alyson’s family’s cottage in Muskoka, and the reception was held at a restaurant on the lake.  The whole day was amazing.  Alyson and Emma have such a great group of friends and an incredibly loving family.  I’ve not even finished editing the pictures yet, but I wanted to post some anyway, so here’s a sneak peak.

I had so much fun working with the models last weekend that I joined Model Mayhem.  I’m thinking of working on a fashion portfolio.

We spent the morning learning about the business of photography.   After lunch, we had the chance to learn from all 3 photographers as we walked around the venue with our 4 amazing models (3 brides and one groom).  It was really great to see all of the photographers ‘in action’.  We then had some alone time with each model/couple to create any kind of images we wanted with everything we had just learned.

I uploaded some of my shots to Flickr.  I had a really hard time narrowing down my favourites, so I might add more later.

And here are my current favourites from my one-on-one time with the models! I say “current favourites” because I’ve changed my mind approximately 5 times already today.

Looking through my pictures, I can already think of a million new ideas, and a million things I would have done differently with poses, lighting, composition, everything.  Overall, it was a really amazing experience and I will definitely be checking out their next workshop in May!
