I have a massive backlog of pictures to post. I’ve been spending a lot of time shooting and even more time editing. Here are some more from my Photography of People portrait photography class.

This time last year, I had literally zero interest in studio photography. I was all about candid portraits in natural light. Well, I was wrong. Studio portraiture is fun.

I’m taking a night class at George Brown College called “Photography of People”. Each week, we take turns working with different models and lighting set-ups. One of last night’s models was Danica Kotsopoulos, a jazz singer. She was fantastic, and it was only her first time modelling! Here are some pictures:

Dave & Charlotte’s March 15th Workshop

Yesterday, I went to The Berkley Church for Dave & Charlotte‘s Wedding Photography Workshop. I had an amazing, fun, and educational day learning from Dave, Charlotte, and Johnny Tran from Calgary.

We spent the morning learning about the business of photography. After lunch, we had the chance to learn from all 3 photographers as we walked around the venue with our 4 amazing models (3 brides and one groom). It was really great to see all of the photographers ‘in action’. We then had some alone time with each model/couple to create any kind of images we wanted with everything we had just learned.

I uploaded some of my shots to Flickr. I had a really hard time narrowing down my favourites, so I might add more later.

Here are some shots from the “learning” part of the day:

Eric & Angela were our real-life couple. Dave & Charlotte shot their wedding last year.

This is Alana Kindree. She was really good and so pretty.

This is Vlada V. Very experienced, amazing model.

And here are my current favourites from my one-on-one time with the models! I say “current favourites” because I’ve changed my mind approximately 5 times already today.

Looking through my pictures, I can already think of a million new ideas, and a million things I would have done differently with poses, lighting, composition, everything. Overall, it was a really amazing experience and I will definitely be checking out their next workshop in May!

Bring The Light With You

I went to Jr. Miller‘s “Bring The Light With You” studio session this past Saturday. I’ve never worked in a studio setting before, and it was really great to finally learn how to use strobes and pocket wizards and etc. Here are a few of my shots of child model/actress Kate Felstead. She was so much fun to work with! There are also a couple more on Flickr.
